Towards a Comprehensive View of Object-Oriented Play

Abstract The exploration and/or manipulation of objects and materials, referred to as object-oriented play (OOP), is one the most prominent activities children engage in during early childhood. Especially within childhood education, it important be able assess understand OOP, its developmental trajectory, value. This can support educators successfully guide or enrich children’s so becomes a context which learning take place. During past decades, three dominant theoretical perspectives have explained assessed certain (developmental) aspects OOP: (1) genetic epistemology, (2) cultural historical psychology, (3) evolutionary psychology. After reviewing literature concerning OOP according each perspective, this paper aims synthesize these existing theories into unified framework. framework starting point for future research on (education). We answer following questions: Q1. What are defining labels features materials by childhood?; Q2. trajectory Q3. value childhood?

A language for databases with sets, tuples, lists, object identity and structural inheritance is proposed. The core language is logic-based with a xpoint semantics.
